Question by T80: Is there really “zero tolerance” for illegal drugs in the military?
I know of a staff sergeant (E-6) in the Marine Corps that was just convicted of using cocaine. I saw his results of trial and they didn’t indicate any punishment aside from a demotion to E-4. This “leader of Marines” will still get an honorable discharge and be eligible for full VA benefits.
My point is when I was a Marine I was an instructor and saw several 18-19yo students maxed out on punishment and kicked out with a bad conduct discharge. Many of them regretted it and asked for a second chance, never saw one get it though. I just think a leader and career Marine should be maxed out if the PFC’s are.
It was the result of a positive urinalysis after cocaine was confiscated from his civilian roommate by NCIS.
