Help Preventing Thoughts Going Off on Wild Tangents?
Question by Ben: Help preventing thoughts going off on wild tangents?
I especially notice this problem when watching movies. I will catch myself thinking about something else when I was originally trying to focus on the movie. It makes it difficult in understanding what is going on in the movie when I happen to miss important parts. This problem will also make itself noticeable when I am trying to pay attention in certain classes, but that is not always the case.
I would like to point out that external noise is not really a problem, as it is with some other people that have focusing issues. i.e. I do fine reading a book even when it is noisy.
Also — a related note — on average it takes me about 1-2 hours to fall asleep each night, which is probably because I cannot turn my thoughts off. I try to clear my mind but my thoughts keep me awake.
